Makit Plates Review
I was given the opportunity to review the Make A Plate Art Project!
Makit has been in business for over 40 years. Make A Plate kits allow children to let their creativity soar in crafting a lasting gift for Mom, Dad, Grandparent or teacher. All Make A Plates are nontoxic, BPA-Free, dishwasher safe and proudly made in the USA.
We had a TON of fun doing. The company sends you quite a few round papers to do your artwork on. Thank goodness...because we have 4 kids and each child had to redo their masterpiece a few times! The extra papers were definitely needed. The company also send the markers to use. You can use your own, but there are certain guidelines. For example, no pencils are to be used, etc.
All 4 of my kids enjoyed sitting down and making the best "plate" they could make. Even the husband got involved. We ended up doing 5 plates total. I was going to do them for Christmas presents....but I thought this time I'd let the kids have their own plates.

Once the kids were done they looked similar to this, very colorful:
It wasn't very long once we sent in our papers in the envelope they provided....MAYBE 2 weeks, and we had the plates!! Here are the finished products! I had 4 very happy children! They were totally excited to see them and they love to use their "very own" plates!
I was impressed with how much time my kids took in making their "plates" perfect. I didn't think it would take us long at all to get them drawn and colored...but I was wrong, each of them...even the 5 year old, took great measures to ensure perfection of their piece! I was thrilled by that!
The plates came out JUST like their drawings. I was very happy with the final product. I was a little surprised that they were plastic. I think it said in the literature now thinking back, but I guess I had in my mind that they were like regular plates. They are NOT dishwasher safe, which is kinda a bummer also, but I have a few other things that have to get handwashed too, so it isn't the end of the world. You also are not to use scouring pads on them which is what my kids use when they do the dishes....so it may be more of a challenge to get them to remember not to use scouring pads.
They really enjoyed this craft though and it is the craft that keeps giving since they get to see their work everytime they sit down to eat!
I think this is definitely worth it for your kids or for Christmas Gifts to give to family members...maybe you could do hand prints if your people are super little, or anything like that. It is a great idea!
