Tuesday, December 21, 2010 GIVEAWAY....5 WINNERS!!!!

Sponsored by

Recently I was asked to review photos from Basically what it is, is a site that allows you to put in your photo and select a Santa pose to put in your photo. I was a bit unsure....I wasn't sure how good it would easy it would be, etc. What I found though was that you can make it look very real by "sizing" Santa to your picture which is VERY easy, and the whole process was extremely easy and very quick! I was VERY happy with the outcome.

You can check it out for yourself at

Imagine the look of wonder and surprise when a child receives a photo of Santa caught in
their house. That is what enticed me! My two older boys are starting to doubt the existence. And yes...I know that someday they will know the truth...but it is FUN to believe! I still even believe. Why can't God have a Santa to make Christmas miracles come true? God can use anything and anybody as a vessel right? So...why not a jolly old man with 8 tiny reindeer? Anyway...I thought making a picture that proves "he is real", would put their doubts to least for this year! For those of you who have been to my house...that is my mantle. There are several different poses to choose don't have to have a fireplace to make this look real!

What I found was that it isn't just Santa! They have a couple different characters. One being the tooth fairy! I can't wait to use this one for MaKenna when she loses her first tooth!!! Check that out at!

GREAT NEWS!!! The WONDERFUL people at have offered a giveaway to 5 Nebraska Hockey Mom readers!!! They have also set up a 25% discount code for you: NEBRASKA-HOCKEY-MOM

5 lucky Hockey Mom readers will one ONE FREE photo with NO expiration! If you decide to use it for the tooth fairy go right ahead!! There is still time for Santa to get in your picture though!

Go over to to choose your favorite Santa pose, then come back and tell us which one you like best. You MUST be a Nebraska Hockey Mom follower to enter!

Giveaway ends at midnight December 26th!!

New FREE Media Diet Calculator launch December 26th!

With the Christmas nearly upon us, we know lots of you will be giving and getting electronic gifts this year. So we wanted to let you know about a way to calculate your family’s media intake.

You can find more information in the press release below.

New Free Media Diet Calculator Planned to Launch Dec. 26

Aims to Bring Awareness of Family Media Intake Versus Real Life Interaction

Nashville, Tenn. Dec. 15, 2010…
After a season filled with record-setting cell phone and gaming gifts to teens and tweens, iShine is announcing the upcoming Dec. 26 release of the Family Media Diet Calculator. The calculator is a new tool providing customized awareness to families in regards to how much time they spend connected to media in comparison to the amount of hours they spend plugged in with real life interaction and content consumption.

By visiting, parents nationwide will be able to plug in amounts of time their families spend texting, browsing online, consuming television and more. They will then be able to print a free custom analysis of where their families are spending their time in comparison to their involvement in recreational and faith-based activities along with family time and reading. The campaign is not an anti-technology movement. It is about use awareness and being intentional about the content.

It is estimated that the 20 million tweens in this country spend 25 hours a week watching television and playing video games and only one hour in church. George Barna (The Barna Group), a pioneer in research on Christian culture, recently noted that kids spend more time absorbing media than anything else in their lives, except sleeping. A recent article in The New York Times titled “Growing Up Digital, Wired for Distraction” also discussed the effects of technology compared to focusing and learning.

“We as parents must be deliberate of what media our kids consume, understanding that it is forming the way our kids look at everything – self image, friends, parents, leaders, themselves,” remarks iShine Founder and Chief Creative Officer Robert Beeson. “If we as parents aren’t actively forming the person our kid’s are becoming – make no mistake – someone else is.”

iShine, known for bringing family-friendly media options through tours, music, television and radio mediums, is sponsoring the free Media Diet Calculator. The organization will also be releasing a new interactive Bible for tweens with Tyndale House Publishers in Feb. of 2011.

More about iShine:
iShine is a Christian media group dedicated to ministering to “tweens” and their families. Tweens are defined as children between the ages of 7 and 13, and represent the single most influential age group in the world today. Mainstream media and consumer marketing groups focus their messages of identity, popularity and value predominately to the “tween” marketplace for a reason. iShine reaches today’s “tweens” through Biblically-based live concerts events (iShineLIVE!), unique television programming seen weekly on TBN (iShine KNECT), iShine artist releases to CD and DVD, interactive websites and coming in 2011, an entire line of books and Bibles all specifically designed to be relevant to this vital audience.

Not too shabby for a stay at home mom right? are always on the computer. No...not really. I spend a lot of time on it at night when the kids go to bed...but not all of it is entering giveaways....I do a lot of e-mailing friends, family and church obligations....I also have my family blog and this blog. So...really I am not on the computer ALL that much. I have a special program that makes entering giveaways THAT much easier too! It fills a lot of the info out for me. It is called Roboform. Very handy...and a must if you are going to be entering a lot of giveaways. I want to give credit where credit is due. I have only a handful of blogs that I subscribe to and that is where I do a lot of winning. Once in awhile I will enter giveaways that aren't within my normal "scope"...but for the most part, I stick with the same circle. Here is the list of those blogs I have won from. Most...if not ALL of these have buttons on the left hand side of this blog.

CoastGuard Wife

Aubut Life
Holiday Gifts and More

Okay...I guess that is more than just a handful...but that is about it. Don't forget all of the wonderful things that I have gotten for free for reviewing too!!! I didn't count all of that. I have gotten tickets to Mickey Live for the whole family...I have reviewed children's websites that I get free subscriptions to, I have reviewed lip glosses, makeup, deodarant, Fiber Gummies, Eye drops, DVDs, Clothing, etc. Because my number of followers isn't very high, I don't get the HUGE reviews and giveaways...but I love what I can do.

I also do a few surveys here and there, or review something like a TV show. I get compensation for doing that by Target Giftcards, or Amazon giftcards...usually $25 at a time.

So...if you have the time, and want to have fun, make money, win things....try entering blog land....I have really enjoyed it! I bet you would too!

Back in September I did a giveaway for Rohto Cooling Eyedrops. I was waiting to reach 100 followers before I did the drawing. We didn't QUITE get to it...but I really wanted to do the drawing before the end of the I went ahead and did the drawing even with only 63 followers. :-( BUT...I am THRILLED to announce that LJD is the winner!! She was number 6 comment! I used to get the winning number.

My Special Mom Bag review! Item #4

For info on this Special Mom Bag stuff go here, here and here! Please pass these posts on to others you know to get my followers up there...then maybe I can start GIVING more away instead of JUST reviewing them......

Item #4...then I have to go to bed...items number 5, 6 and 7 will have to wait!!! Sorry! I'm getting #4...Bella B Tummy to Toes Cooling Leg and Foot Cream! Yippee!!

Everytime I was pregnant, I struggled with my legs hurting...and I always wanted to find something that would help them. I did use a Mary Kay item for awhile, but it had Eucalypus smell in it, and I couldn't stomach it thanks to my pregnancy. I HAVE sampled this and I think it is great! It works like a charm. I don't have pregnant aches in my legs and feet right now, but I do have weather changing aches in my legs and feet and this really helped with those aches and pains. It has several organic moisturizers to help penetrate deep into your legs to help wtih the dry skin too. It is organic of course and does have a refreshing scent....HOWEVER...if I were pregnant, the scent I think...would bother me. Why? I have TERRIBLE morning sickness throughout MOST of the pregnancy...ANYTHING that smelled like ANYTHING makes me since this DOES have a refreshing as it may be...I think it would bother me during pregnancy. DEFINITELY does NOT bother me know...but I wouldn't doubt it if it did then. Otherwise the product DOES do what it says it will do...which means I still give it 2 thumbs up outside of pregnancy...but unfortunatly 1 thumb up and 1 thumb down for during pregnancy.

My Special Mom Bag review! Item #3

For info on this "mom" bag review...check out my earlier posts here and here!

Now for item #3! The Baby K'tan! Now...I did not actually receive this product to review...but I DID receive an informational packet on it, and a Baby K'tan hat. I also have known people that have had Baby K'tan's...or a knock off brand. Let me just say this first off...if you can figure it looks FANTASTIC! I for one am not good at figuring things like that out. I couldn't even figure out the one that they lay in! makes me nervous to have them just hanging in there without clips and buckles. Just me. It looks AWESOME though. If I had a newborn and could get over my fears, I would definitely have to try it! The hat they sent is made out of the same material and it is a VERY well made, soft, sturdy hat. The material is very durable...that part would not worry me at fact, it is such a soft material, I wouldn't mind being swaddled in it! This looks like a fabulous product though...there are SO many different ways to use it....9 positions to use from 8-42 pounds to be exact (according to their literature...I notice their website says only 35 pounds). If I wanted to...I could STILL use it with my 3 year old! He is only 36 pounds. I can't imagine WANTING to use it with him...but I could!!! This would also be a great product for us breastfeeders. I always struggled to find a product that was conducive for that. it is! Having not personally tried it, I can't honestly say that I love it...but...after reading the info...feeling the material and seeing others...I would have to give it my 2 thumbs up!!!

My Special Mom Bag review! Item #2

For more info go to my #1 post here. Before I go on...I just want to say that some of these items I might be able to have giveaways with if I had over 100 who do you know who would love to follow a quirky, not so busy blog???? Send them over!!!

Okay....Item #2: Another favorite of mine....the Halo SleepSack Swaddle. I received one of these with my 4th son. It was a knock off brand though...this is the ACTUAL Halo SleepSack. Now...I haven't tried it because I no longer have a newborn...but let me say about the is fabulous. I loved the one I had for my son. I wasn't concerned about suffocation because there were no blankets in his crib and I wasn't concerned that he would be too warm or too cold. The Halo SleepSack though is MUCH softer and more than likely more durable then my knock off brand was. It feels fabulous! This one has the swaddle aspect to it too...whereas mine did not. So basically when baby is really little...they like to be swaddled. This acts not only as a sleep sack, but as a swaddler. Once baby outgrows swaddling, it then is a regular sleep sack...which is essentially a wearable blanket. It helps reduce the riosk of SIDS by replacing loose blankets in the crib. AWESOME item! I would recomment this to any parent, new or seasoned.

My Special Mom Bag review! Item #1

Recently I received a "Mom" bag full of goodies to review. Okay...not so recently. has been sitting by my desk now probably for a couple months. It has been a busy couple of months my defense. Anyway...better late then never...right? So I thought I would take this time before midnight...while the house is quiet and the blizzard is still going strong outside, to do some reviewing. I have read up on and/or tried the products already...I just haven't had the time to actually write the review yet. Anyway....I received 7 items in the bag. Yeah me! So there will be 7 posts...why? Its just easier with the texts and the pictures...yadda, yadda, here goes!

Item number 1:
My personal favorite...the Puddle Jumper Life Jacket! WOW! I have to say...I LOVE this item! This adjustable, comfortable life jacket features buckle snaps in the back, fits kids 30-50 pounds and is US Coast Guard Approved. It is made by Stearns...The Life Jacket Experts. It is great for the Lake, pool, beach...anywhere that you might be to help your kiddo learn to swim.
I used it on my 2 year old this summer and it worked wonderfully! He is a VERY obstinant child and WILL NOT wear things like life vests....but he allowed me to put this life jacket on without a fight and he kept it on! It worked like a helped me feel safer, and it did its job. The ONLY pitfalls were: Weird tan lines...but I'll take weird tan lines over losing my baby any day. The other pitfall....once in awhile, the arms would slip down on one I would find myself readjusting him. Maybe if I had tighted it around the waist that would not have happened? I don't know. We will be using it at the lake this we'll see how it does then too. But...I ABSOLUTELY would recommend this item! It was FANTASTIC in my book!

"Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas" Review

I was asked to review an episode of NBC's "Community," a smart comedy series about a band of misfits who attend Greendale Community College. It is first showing TONIGHT, Thursday the 9th on NBC.

Let me first tell you a little bit about this particular episode:

At the center of the group is Jeff Winger (Joel McHale, "The Soup"), a fast-talking lawyer whose degree has been revoked. With some help from his fellow classmates, Winger forms a study group that eventually learns more about themselves than their course work.
Also among the series stars who comprise the group are: comedy legend Chevy Chase ("Chuck") as Pierce, a man whose life experience has brought him infinite wisdom; Gillian Jacobs ("The Book of Daniel") as Britta, the 20-something dropout with something to prove; Yvette Nicole Brown ("Rules of Engagement") as Shirley, a sassy middle-aged divorcée; Danny Pudi ("Greek") as Abed, a pop culture junkie; Alison Brie ("Mad Men") as Annie, a high-strung perfectionist; Donald Glover ("30 Rock") as Troy, a former high school football star trying to find his way, and Ken Jeong ("The Hangover") as Señor Chang.

The "Community" Christmas episode everyone will be talking about!

In this special stop motion animation episode, the meaning of Christmas is lost and Abed's intense fixation on Christmas concerns the group.

When Abed (Danny Pudi) wakes up in stop-motion animation, he takes it as a sign that he and the group must re-discover the meaning of Christmas. Meanwhile, Jeff (Joel McHale) and Britta (Gillian Jacobs) become growingly concerned about Abed's mental health and enlist the help of Professor Duncan (John Oliver). The group undergoes hypnosis to explore Abed's winter wonderland and soon unravel the truth behind Abed’s madness. Chevy Chase, Yvette Nicole Brown, Donald Glover, and Ken Jeong also star.
everyone will be talking about!
The new Claymation Christmas episode is kind of like the old Christmas shows "Frosty the Snowman", "Rudolph", just more up to date.
Abed is Muslim....trying to figure out the meaning of Christmas.

This is not like any other Christmas special I have ever seen. The characters in the show are of multiple religions. It highlights most of the BIG religions, and how they celebrate in tidbits. For see a Jewish Menorrah, a song is sung with the mention of Baby Jesus, etc.
I can't honestly say that I liked the show. There was some mild language, that I didn't feel was appropriate for a Christmas special. It is DEFINITELY NOT for children. It simply is a discussion of the meaning of Christmas...or what the characters believe the meaning of Christmas is...with what some may believe to be comedy. It wasn't really my type of comedy...but I could see where some might find it funny.
Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas (rated PG)
Thursday night December 9th (8/7pm) on NBC.

*I was asked to review this episode and in exchange I was put into a drawing...all of the thoughts in this post are mine and mine alone*

BGEA: Meditation: Learning to Think of God

BGEA: Meditation: Learning to Think of God

This article did so much for me in this season of my life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did....

Paperspring review

Hi all! I know I have done a review on Paperspring before...but I feel so strongly about their product that I thought I would let you all know again! They have a ton of options for your photo needs...and even non-photo needs. They sent me some samples of their cards and the paper that they are printed on is very solid, sturdy and professional looking. Their newest cards also are Paperlink-enabled...which means you can turn to the back of the card to view bonus material...meaning you can scan the "widget" with the free Paperlinks iPhone app or visit and enter a special code. I don't have an iPhone, so I went to the website and entered the special code that was on the back of the sample card. This particular sample card was a birth announcement. It simply said that the child was born and his "stats". When I put the code in at the website though it went WAY into more detail. It was very having a little diary online attached to the card you get. Very cool! So, lets say you want to do a Christmas card. You do the regular picture as usual on the pretty photo paper. I do that every year...but then I put in a Christmas letter. With this...I can post my christmas letter online at Paperlinks onthe Paperspring website and my cards will go out with that code so that when people get it, they can read my Christmas letter on line. VERY NEAT!

I was very impressed with this new technology...and I DID order some Christmas pictures from them, but I got it on sticky paper. Now my Christmas picture can hang anywhere in someones house. It isn't a is more like the static cling...but I thought it would be a nice change for my family and friends....and the quality is fantastic!~

Paperspring DEFINITELY gets a thumbs up from me!!!

Check them out!!!!!

*Start your own personal foundation, help your favorite charities.
*Earn money for your foundation automatically by shopping online.
*100% of GiveBack donations go to the charities you support.

So basically, you make your own foundation to help the charities that you love. Then when you shop online, you will get money to put towards those charities. When you sign up...which is will automatically get $5 in your account. Just to see what would happen, I signed up and I DID get the $5 in my account. I then made a personal foundation and donated my $5 to MOPs International. You can donate it to anywhere...when you choose your charities you can put in your state and city and support something locally, or anything nationwide. I was really happy to have MOPs as part of the charities because I have always wanted to donate to them since I have been involved with MOPs for 12 years. I was thrilled to get to donate to the organization! So here is what you do:

Create Your Foundation
GiveBack allows you to do all your giving in one place, without hassle or any complexities. Any charity, any time, any amount.

Free. No cost to you or to the charities you support.
Manage all your giving through one account. One receipt for tax time.
Give to any charity registered with the IRS.
100% of donations goes to charities. (We cover costs through our sponsors.)
Fill Your Foundation
There are several ways to add money to your foundation.

Earn up to 15% of each purchase when you shop at our merchant partners.
Check out the shops!
Make a donation directly using your credit card. Get the tax deduction now; give when you're ready.
Our sponsors want to support your causes. Participate and get chances to earn more for your foundation.
Increase Your Impact
There's power in numbers. Spread the word by promoting charities and sharing stories.

If you want, you can highlight your favorite charities on Facebook.
Small donations add up: now you and your friends can donate together.
Soon you'll be able to create campaigns on behalf of your favorite charity, so you can manage local fundraisers through GiveBack.

I must say, I was really impressed with this organization and I am really happy to be able to review it and spread the word! Check it out!!!! Be sure to check out the widget above!

*I received a chance to win, but received no monetary gain for this post. The thoughts in this post are mine and mine alone.*

Primrose Schools & Dr. Z Encourage Families to Give Back

We all want our children to grow up to be compassionate adults who want to help others. That's why we're always on the lookout for good ways to encourage character and development. Our good friends at Primrose Schools, the leader in educational childcare, recommend that parents make an effort to introduce volunteerism at a young age.

That's why Dr. Mary Zurn, Vice President of Education for Primrose, is offering parents the four easy steps outlined below to start their children on a path to meaningful volunteerism.

Here are 4 Steps to getting your family interested in volunteering:

Step 1: Clarify your personal goals and motives for wanting to include your child in volunteer activities. Volunteering is a wonderful way to a share your values with your child. Pick a cause that is meaningful to you and your family rather than one that is simply convenient.

Step 2: Explain the importance of volunteerism and the contribution volunteers can make. A child's favorite question is "why?" Keep your answers simple and concrete. For example, if you are going to volunteer at the food bank, tell your child that "The food bank has lots of food for people who need it, and it will be our job to sort the food so that people are able to find what they need."

Step 3: Choose volunteer activities to do with your children that are age-appropriate. Children as young as three can begin volunteering. At this age they begin to enjoy participation in group activities and are better able to follow directions. Remember that a preschooler's concept of the world is not very large and is usually limited primarily to their home, neighborhood and school; therefore, it is important to keep the activity within the realm of what they can imagine. A few examples:

*Participate in "clean the park" activities. Be sure to have your child wear gloves.
*Take recyclables to recycling collection centers.
*Act as a companion to the elderly in retirement or assisted living homes. Simply listening to their stories and relieving their loneliness provides multiple benefits for the senior citizen and your child.
*Participate in local races and walks that raise money for a charitable cause that you think is important; most races have a shorter race for children.
*Sort food at a food bank. Be sure to confirm that children are welcome to volunteer and that it will be a safe environment.

Step 4: Find a child-friendly not-for-profit. Ask the following questions to help you select the volunteer opportunity that is right for your family:

Does the organization have experience with and a history of successfully working with children and families?
Will the organization provide me with a reference from another family who has volunteered with them?
Will the organization staff welcome my child's participation?
Is there a specific job that my child can do successfully?

Who will show my children what to do?
Are there special clothes or supplies needed for my child to volunteer with this organization?
Does the organization conduct appropriate background screenings on its staff?

Does the organization have insurance if there is an accident while your family is volunteering?
Can the organization provide a concrete example that will help your child understand how his or her efforts benefit others?

To find these and other great tips for parents, check out Dr. Zurn's blog at For more information on Primrose Schools, visit You can also check them out on Facebook and Twitter!

Kindercare Offers Boredom Busters for Winter Fun

Tips and Ideas to Keep Kids Busy this Winter!

As the days get shorter and weather turns colder, parents are often faced with more out-of-school time and the age-old question, "What can we do?" from children. Now, parents can look to KinderCare Learning Centers, a leading provider of early childhood education, for engaging and age-appropriate activities for their kids to enjoy over the winter months, including KinderCare Winter Science Camp, reading resources and other ideas that are great boredom-busters! KinderCare offers the following ideas for "weathering the winter season" with your children.

KinderCare Winter Science Camp:

The secret's about to get out: science is a blast! At the end of December, 1600 KinderCare Learning Centers across the U.S. transform into Winter Science Camps that give preschoolers through school-agers a chance to unlock the mysteries of the natural world. Split into eight 1-day segments to better meet the needs of busy families staying in town for the holidays, Winter Science Camp uses age-appropriate activities and a lively, hands-on approach to get kids excited about what they're learning. From fish to flowers, from robots to recycling-each center's camp covers chemistry, earth science, and physics. Among many activities, younger campers will get to be "science detectives," solving a series of science mysteries by using touch, smell and hearing. Meanwhile, school-aged kids will be busy experimenting with colored dyes, creating everything from paper to volcanic eruptions, building balloon rockets, and more. Kids can attend all eight days of camp, or drop in for a day or more. For more information about how KinderCare Winter Science Camp makes science as fun as it is smart, visit

Winter Reading:

There is nothing better than snuggling up with your child and a good book. Reading to a child on a regular basis is by far the best way to encourage a budding reader. From the earliest ages, parents are encouraged to begin a reading routine with their children. Building on its robust literacy curriculum and teaching expertise, KinderCare is now providing parents with a comprehensive reading guide (available at that incorporates tips on reading to infants, toddlers and preschoolers as well as recommended age-appropriate book titles.

Some tips include:

You can help cultivate baby's interest in books by choosing ones that capture his or her attention such as board books, pop-up books, etc. Your child will want to see these again and again.

While reading together, ask questions about the pictures. Children are delighted in finding objects on the page. If they're saying 'da' and pointing at the dog, say, 'Yes, that's the dog,' If the child says 'ball,' follow up with, 'That's a blue ball.' You'll be giving them additional language for their verbal bank.

Ask your child open-ended questions about the story you are reading, such as "Why do you think that happened?"

Play Time

The colder weather outdoors offers a good excuse for good old-fashioned indoor play time. Play is the natural work of children and essential to learning. Through play, children develop social skills, the ability to solve problems and the courage to express their ideas.

The following are some quick tips for educational and fun family playtime:

For infants, playing peek-a-boo will help baby recognize your voice.

To help infants and toddlers develop fine motor skills, provide a variety of soft, easy-to-grasp toys, such as soft blocks or plush toys.

Blow bubbles with your child and watch them have a blast as they chase and catch the bubbles - both reinforce motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

About KinderCare

...Featuring Norah Jones.....CD Review

*My review is MY personal opinion and I have been entered to win a gift card through One2One Network by participating.*

...Featuring is an AMAZING collection of MULTI-Platinum, MULTI-Grammy Award winning siner's musical collaborations from the past DECADE! There are 18 songs on this album...and maybe ONE didn't do much for me...but the other 17 were incredibly AWESOME! The songs on this album include cool ameos, collaborations and duets with such legends as Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, OutKast and Foo Fighters to just name a few. The tracks on this album span Norah's whole career and REALLY show us what she can do! She is SO diverse. These songs are a mixture of hop...and rock. Not all at the same time...but you get my idea right? :-)

I have to say....I REALLY wasn't sure if I would like this CD...but BOY!! I was VERY PLEASANTLY surprised. I have listened to it DAILY since I received it! I am not a drinker...but this album relaxes me to the point where I can see sitting in a bubble bath...laying back with a glass of wine and listening to this album with the candles burning! It has a very soft, listening touch to it. Even the songs that aren't supposed to be a soft....are. It really is a great album...definitely worth the purchase!!! :-)

Here are some links that might help you better understand Norah and her music.

Mickey's Roadshow LIVE! Omaha, NE!!

US Family Guide, recently gave me the opportunity to see Mickey's Roadshow Live! They offered me 4 tickets free of charge to review and blog about my experience at the show! Knowing that I have 4 children and if we made it a family event, I would need 2 more tickets, I e-mailed and asked how I might get 2 more tickets next to the 4...and how much extra that would cost me. I was TOTALLY okay paying for 2 tickets...I mean, I was getting 4 for free. The thought never even occured to me that they may give me 2 more tickets for free...but they did!!! I couldn't believe it! That is what I call a stand up organization! They REALLY catered to my individual needs and I am SO appreciative for that! Not only that but the tickets were fantastic! Floor tickets are always more expensive...but I can't say that I understand can't see anything from the floor. I always get Jimmy Bob sitting in front of me with a big gallon cowboy hat on, so I can never see anything and the kids can't I would MUCH rather be up a little higher which is where we were. Like I said, FANTASTIC seats! Major sat in AWE of smiles...just awestruck! Once in awhile he would lift up his hands and clap a little bit! MaKenna was like that also...until Cinderella came out....THEN she LIT UP like a Christmas tree!!!!
It has a great plot. It was about Mickey Mouse wanting to have a talent he and his friends had to go all over trying to find talent for the talent show. They traveled by land, by sea, and by air.

They found Tigger, Cinderella and her step sisters, the toy soldiers, Buzz Lightyear and Woody!

Of course the usual guys...Donald Duck, Goofy, Mickey and Minnie were also there. We had a great time! The sound was fantastic...the seating and lighting were fabulous...and at Intermission I even saw a friend from church and her kids!
Everything was FANTABULOUS! But...if I had to have a negative thought, it would be the items available for purchase. I bought my kids nachos because the show as at noon...they were hungry. That is really all I could afford. I know that anytime you go to a colisseum of any sort you will pay through the teeth for food and drink...that I understand. And I even understand WHY their items were expensive...I mean after is Disney. You pay for the brand more than the item...but...even though I didn't pay for the show, most people do...and after paying for the show which is expensive, who can afford all of the fun items? See...they know they get you because you are there, and the kids will beg and beg for things. And you want to get these things for them because it is a fun event, and you want your kids to be happy...but you almost have to take a second mortgage out on your house to afford them. Okay..maybe that is a bit far fetched...but you could EASILY drop an extra $100 on these events, on just food, drink and items alone.
So...that said, the show itself was absolutely wonderful! I have 4 kids. The 11 year old LOVED it...the 6 year old LOVED it...the 2 year old LOVED it....the 9 year old wants to be just like since daddy...the hunter-gatherer, wasn't thrilled, neither was the 9 year old. But...later on...when hunter-gatherer wasn't around, the 9 year old said that he wanted to go back! So...only the hunter-gatherer was a fuddiduddi!! :-) So....5 out of 6 ain't bad!!! name is Hope....

Simply Spray review!

Simply Spray Fabric Paints are some GREAT paints!!! I had the opportunity to review these products and as a family we THOROUGHLY enjoyed using them. Now...we ARE amature our shirts are a bit...well...rusty looking, but we had a great time doing it and the kids are already asking when we can do more!
I went to Hobby Lobby and just bought some plain white t-shirts. You can also get bulk t-shirts at Walmart or any other store. I watched all of the how to videos on the Simply Spray website and read all the how to literature before doing this. Angela has some really great video's and tutorials on her site! I really felt like I knew what I was doing when I got to the good part! night, we set out some newspaper on the kitchen table...and one at a time, the kids laid their shirts down...told me what kind of deisgn they wanted and off they went! Cam and Jake tried to write on their shirts. It is a bit more difficult to do that and actually be able to READ what is on their shirts...but had they had stencils they would have been fine. Major and MaKenna opted for your normal tye dye look. I went with the breast cancer ribbon and Jeff had to go with the UT emblem! The funny thing is...the very FIRST t-shirt that I did which was the guinea pig t-shirt came out by far the best!! I did it in tye dye also. It is not pictured here since it was just a trial t-shirt. However, for Halloween, I am a Rastafarian. So I have been wearing my tye dye shirt...the first one I made...and I have gotten so many compliments on it! I have already been able to spread the word of Simply Paint!!

Check out the Simply Paint website and see what you think!!! What a fun fall project for you and your family!! Make your own t-shirts for your Christmas cards!!! :-) I think we might do that next year!!!

I want to thank Angela from Simply Paint for allowing me to review this product and for allowing me the time to do it. I was supposed to have completed it months ago...but life happens! :-) Woops! Sorry Angela...but I am so happy that I was chosen to review this product, it really was a lot of fun for our family to do together!!

Fresh Fruit Pie

Recently I was contacted by an Indie Production Studio that makes family films.
Their mission is to raise the bar of quality on family entertainment. They have created a video series that both parents and kids will love. It's called "Fresh Fruit Pie," and it's sort of like a family-friendly "Saturday Night Live."

They are holding an online premiere for "Fresh Fruit Pie" October 19-21. The entire film will be available for free live streaming for 48 hours. They feel that moms and dads will love a show like this because it fills a gap that's sorely missing: moral-driven entertainment that kids of today's generation find exciting.

KT Tunstall, Tiger Suit CD Review

I was given the opportunity by One2One Network to review KT Tunstall's new album Tiger Suit which was in stores starting October 5th. Click on the links above for KT's website and also the album site! Tiger Suit is her third studio album and is just the beginning of a new musical adventure for her! I am at a loss for words on how to describe her music, so let me just share with you how One2One Network described it: "Organic instrumentations are blended with dance-friendly textures, the results of which she has dubbed, 'Nature Techno' to encapsulate the album's collision of raw, upfront rootsiness and sleek electronic textures." Honestly, that is THE best description of her music....or at least the music on this particular CD. Here are some more quick facts:
* KT is a Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum, Scottish-born singer-songwriter

* Tiger Suit was released October 5th and her rollicking first single "Fade Like A Shadow" is a Top 20 hit at radio.

* KT will be on tour this Fall (10/31-12/1)

* KT's previous hit songs include - the Grammy-nominated "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," "Suddenly I See," Other Side of the World" or "Hold On".

You can buy KT's new album for $10.99 at Amazon.
Okay...I will be honest...I am a County and Christian music listener. This techno, easy rock...whatever you want to call it, isn't exactly my cup of tea. Now...just because I don't LIKE the music per se...that doesn't mean I don't know a good album when I hear it. She has a very soothing voice...and her songs are more on the slower side. I could see "chillin" in the hottub with a glass of wine and listening to her album. It is relaxing and refreshing...just not my first choice of music. However, I think it was truly beautifully sounding, and beautifully put together. Good job KT!

Monday, October 4, 2010 Review recently sent me a product to review. It is a Melamine Personalized Plate.

I REALLY like the feel of is lightweight, and very sturdy. I also love the design! I can't wait to use this for my next event...birthday party...shower...whatever!

The ONLY problem I really see with it is it is not microwaveable. I LOVE to put food on a plate from tupperware left overs and "nuk" them. This would not work for this purpose. HOWEVER, given the design...I wouldn't use it as an everyday plate would I really have the need to microwave it? Probably that isn't really an issue. It IS dishwasher safe however, which is very nice...and will stay nice as long as no abrasive cleaners are used on it.

All in all, I think it is a great product! I LOVE to have nice things when I have parties. Anything to make people feel more special about their special day!!!

Check out for more personalized things! Thie product will become "live" on their site on Friday the 8th of October!!! Check it out, and let them know that I sent you!!!!! Maybe a discount might come your way!!! :-)

ROHTO Cooling Eye Drops review and giveaway!

ROHTO® Cooling Eye Drops:

The secret weapon of makeup artists to the stars (featured in the April12 issue of US Weekly!), and a gift to sleep-deprived people everywhere, these drops are like beauty sleep in a bottle, so you don’t have to face the day looking red-eyed and scary! ROHTO eye drops are the only eye relief products on the market that not only relieve dryness, redness and irritation, but also contain signature ingredients that enhance the sensation of relief and give a “kick” to tired eyes. Below is a breakdown of the product line, and product images can be found here: .

· ROHTO® Hydra: The newest product offering, specifically formulated to lubricate and provide long-lasting moisture for dry, irritated eyes with the closest hydration to nature tears, while also providing the brand’s signature cooling “kick”

· ROHTO® Cool: a general purpose eye drop that combines redness relief with a gentle cooling sensation

· ROHTO® Ice: relieves redness while also soothing itch, irritation and burn with an intense cooling sensation

· ROHTO® Arctic: revives strained, overworked eyes and relieves redness with a mild “pick me up” sensation

ROHTO also happens to be the eye drop of choice for many endurance athletes, whose eyes are assaulted by the elements daily during training. In light of that, the brand is sponsoring the ROHTO Endurance Sweepstakes through September 30, 2010, where two grand-prize winners (one male and one female) will receive a men’s and women’s Ceepo® bike, respectively. The sweepstakes also includes weekly prizes of ROHTO Training Kits that will include a valuable assortment of training gear and nutritional items. Readers can go to to enter. For ongoing product and giveaway info, look for Rohto on Facebook

I don't TYPICALLY have problems with my eyes...however, once in a great while I do. This fall for example, I have had terrible allergies! At one point, I even had an eye infection due in part I think to allergies. I started using these drops when I noticed redness. I do want to point out...I still had eye PUFFINESS...but this product did take the redness and some, if not all of the itchiness away. I have had this product for awhile to review, but I haven't reviewed it because I wanted to wait until I needed the product in order to give you a truthful review and I believe that this product does all that it says it will do. It seems to be a great product and I think that anyone experiencing allergies...or redness for any other reason (other than infection), should use this product.

The great people at Rohto are happy to provide a set of Rohto® Hydra and Rohto® Cool for a giveaway to one Hockey Mom reader.
